Paddy Leitsch: Reviews

Session Reviews

I am very happy with the results and I think you did an awesome job working with me to find a good fit for the song... the techincal prowess demonstrated by your guitar work is probably at the pinnacle of what is humanly possible and I would consider you a virtuoso... a black belt in the league.

It was nice working with you... as soon as I need more guitar work, I know whom to call!
-David Witte: Song Writer/Producer/Recordist - Session Review (Feb 24, 2008)
One of the songs I was most excited about on my "Carry
On" album was "Falling In Love". It was an up-beat,
power-pop love song with an over-used chord
progression and sugary lyrics. I knew I wanted guitar
in the song, but once we began recording I knew it had
to be more than an acoustic. I asked my friend Mike
Przygoda if he knew a good electric guitar player and
he immediately recommended Paddy. I've never had an
easier time hiring a musician. I sent him the song
file, he listened to it, wrote a part, and then sent
me the recorded version.

And it was awesome.

We met once to practice and then it was onto the
studio. He laid down the track in one -- maybe two --
takes. And he also played the acoustic line down,
too. The final product was 10 times better than what
I had envisioned. And Paddy's a huge reason why so
many people love that particular song.
The session I hired Paddy Leitsch for was excellent. He had already done his homework and come prepared with the music (he even called me to check on a few things beforehannd, so no time in the studio was wasted). He brought with him pro gear and a pro attitude. He even had some suggestions on the rest of the song which he presented in a constructive professional way that helped make the song that much better. He recorded several takes, all of which were excellent and usable.
My "session review" of Paddy Leitsch is going to be a bit STRANGE. Quite frankly, I don't think that he's a musician AT ALL. He seems to be someone MASQUERADING as a musician. I say this because:

He came to the sessions EARLY. He was PREPARED. He was able to READ MUSIC. He offered USEFUL SUGGESTIONS when asked. He was not ARGUMENTATIVE. He TOOK DIRECTION. He plays guitar in MANY DIFFERENT STYLES. He plays REALLY WELL, usually DONE on the first or second take. He was NOT under the influence of any mind-altering substances (besides MUSIC).

Not like any MUSICIANS I'VE dealt with.
